June 2022 week 3
I am meant to live in peace
“The point in life is to know what’s enough” Gensei, a Japanese Buddhist
Brahmacharya invites us to live with God, not excess.
“This invites us to to see every relationship we have as a relationship with the Divine and by seeing every experience we have as an experience of the Divine.
Seeing with the eyes of holiness shifts how we act as well as how we see. There is an inbuilt need to pause and give thanks. There is an inbuilt need to open the heart in wonder. When gratitude and wonder sit in the heart, there is no need for excess.” Deborah Adele This Yama once again prompts us to the realization that fulfillment lies not outside us but within us - I don’t know about you, but I am all in on repetition!!! I need this concept again and again to help ground me in centeredness. Whereas excess overdoes us, over extends us, and takes us away from ourselves, seeing everything as sacred firmly roots us, and balances us.
We need to slow down and take time to see the holiness, to feel the gratitude, to get grounded. Mindful yoga, walks, swims, meditation and prayer are all ways to gain this perspective. These actions will bring us to our intention - “I am Meant to Live in Peace.”
When we get the real nourishment of our connection with our Divine, the pretend nourishment of excess becomes less and less appealing.
So once again always timely for me as I type with a strap around my forearm and bursitis in my elbow! Let’s see my days are full of yoga, swimming, walking my dog with my right hand on the leash, pickle, golf and lots of typing….excess???? Hmmmm. I was sitting on my deck this morning meditating, reading prayers and writing before going off for my swim and I was able to pause and consider a break for a few days from all of this activity. Now I have 2 ways to approach this pause - anger at my elbow at this time of year when I am so active (well thats not entirely true as I am active all year lol), or I can look around and be grateful for this beautiful day and this beautiful place that I live in - today I will see God! Today I will sit in gratitude for a pause and stop typing so I don’t aggravate it😇 - I am meant to live in peace!
For this week can you heighten you’re awareness of where you see God and where you don’t. Do you have any beliefs that limit your ability to see God and experience God?
Yogi Bhajan: “If you can’t see God in all, you can’t see God at all.” See God in all!!!!
