March 2023 Week 1
I am imperfect, like everyone else, and thats okay
Wow, its March!!! The days are getting noticeably longer and spring is coming. How has your winter been? Shorter days, colder days of winter I believe are an invitation for us to “retreat” in someway. There is a reason for the seasons! Last month we focused on nourishing ourselves - how did you do with that? Lets not leave that behind, but build on it. Maybe pause here and journal a little about your January and February - did you do anything to nourish yourself in any way? As we transition from winter to spring, there is a sort of “rebirth”. “The thing that is really hard, and really amazing, is giving up on being perfect and beginning the work of becoming yourself.” Anna Quindlen. What if we used this month as a time of “rebirth” and transition from darkness to light? Yes the winter is physically darker and the springtime brings more hours of daylight, but how about ourselves moving from darkness to light? What does that look like for you? For me it looks like a deeper level of self acceptance and even deeper self love. I have written about this recently and that is because it is my work right now….self love, without feeling “woo woo” or “whimpy”. The intention this month is: I am imperfect, like everyone else, and thats okay. Can we/I find courage and strength in standing tall in who we are - flaws and all? Can the light that springtime offers us give us a feeling of emotional and spiritual lightness if we dive into this work of radical self acceptance together? I am willing to do the work and guide you in this way for the month of March. I have picked up one of Brene Brown’s first books, The Gifts of Imperfection again and in it she talks about being on a journey of living and loving with our whole hearts and in order to do this the journey is equal parts heart work and head work. Like her, I need to do some heart work this month. “How much we know and understand ourselves is critically important, but there is something that is even more essential to living a Wholeheartened life: loving ourselves,” Brene Brown. I am constantly on a quest for a wholehearted life, the only problem to living this is ME! Remember a quote from years ago……get out of the way, you are slowing God down! I am excited to see where this months intention brings us, as always thank you for journeying with me.
