June 2023 Week 3
I am undivided, I am where my feet are
Today, June 21st at 10:57am is summer solstice, this occurs when one of Earth's poles has its maximum tilt toward the Sun.
It is the longest day of the year and a time to celebrate our growth, acknowledge our weaknesses. It’s an opportunity to pause, to stop for a moment, to look back at what we have achieved, to redress our own imbalances and to plan for the future. I would say this is a perfect time for our intention: I am undivided, I am where my feet are. It is a time to pause and reflect.
Summer solstice is the one day of the year with the most time of light - the light of the sun outside of us, but also the light within. Each one of us is a universal light of consciousness. Our goal in yoga is to awaken our inner light. How can you shine your brightest light? Can you use our intention to get grounded, turn inward and remember who you are? What do you need to fill yourself up with in order to shine your brightest light (self confidence, a clear mind, an activity, time with certain people etc?) And on the flip side, what might you need to release in order to shine your brightest light (self doubt, anger, lethargy, an activity, time with certain people, etc)? As I have said this month, this is a perfect time to get clear on what you want your summer to look like.
Take a moment today (preferably at 10:57am) and face the east to salute the sun and to honor your undivided self!!!! What a gift our yoga practice is to us!
Just adding…2 of my boys are on a surf trip in Nicaragua and they sent me a picture of them doing yoga on the beach, wow!!! They are shining their light!!!! Share your passions with those you love, you never know when they will join you!
