September 2023 Week 1
I rejoice in what the mirror of my relationships show me
It’s September, yikes how did that happen!!!!! And double yikes - that was a busy summer! I am so grateful to have you all journeying along with me on this spiritual path and this month I am using our time together for an intention I desperately need…..”I rejoice in what the mirror of my relationships show me.” My summer was packed with people on top of people from all areas of my life: my childhood girlfriends, college friends, spiritual friends, old friends, new friends, summer friends, golf friends and lots and lots of family. This month I am going to take the time to learn from all of these relationships and what is being mirrored back at me. Who is important? Who is in my life just so I feel like I am “a part of” and a part of what? How am I showing up? Prioritizing? And am I present and focused - remember last month the simple definition of focus is saying yes to one thing and no to everything else. I had multiple days and nights where I could have been literally in 3 different places with 3 different groups of people. Now I am grateful to be included, but I have to be honest and say there were many times I was uncomfortable feeling like oh I should have said yes to this not that etc. That is a familiar and old feeling to me and it makes me feel soooo uncomfortable. The people I admire the most are the ones who “say yes” to one thing, one person and are in it fully. I can be there too if I take the time to center myself and start grounded where my feet are.
This month we will talk of the Sakral chakra, the 2nd chakra Swadhisthana - the ability to flow and be fluid through transitions and to let go. The element of the 2nd chakra is water, so think of the ebb and flow of life, think of the ebb and flow of you and your relationships. In the physical body it is below the navel - the hips, pelvis, kidneys. It is here that we learn how to let situations and people and energies ebb and flow. (Check out this weeks yoga class which was basically in the water to avoid the bugs lol.)
Before we get into the 2nd chakra, lets start at our most basic level - Muladhara, the root chakra - this is the grounding chakra at the base of the spine traveling down the legs. It is our stability , stillness and security. Go back to basics - are you feeling grounded and stable in your own self? How is your relationship to yourself right now? What is the mirror of the relationship you have with yourself telling you right now? Take a quiet moment, this is a time of transition, so honor it with the gift of a little self inquiry.
