June 2024 Week 1

I Am Grounded

Wow it’s June!! Weather is warmer, days are longer, ocean temperature is much warmer for dipping and summer is coming in hot. What does this mean for you? Personally, I can get very busy, scattered and disconnected to myself. I spoke in class this week about the off season in my new home and how much I love it. In the past, I came to this beach town for the summer and after labor day I would drive home with my boys a little teary and uncomfortable. I would try to bring something of my summer into my life back in NJ and NYC. Now I find myself relishing my off season and at this time of the year reflecting on what can I bring into my busy summer season that I have all year long. One thing I want to focus on is staying grounded and present and not getting too swept away and feeling scattered and depleted. I have an intention this month that I hope helps me and all of us right now to achieve this: I Am Grounded. A simple and complete sentence.
I read this on the 2nd of June and thought it was perfect for the start to this intention:
Why Hurry Through by Melody Beattie - “Why hurry through a day, an hour, a life? Hurry never catches up with itself. It strains, it stresses. It doesn’t trust the natural rhythm, the natural order of the universe. Slow down, tap into the rhythm of the world. Tap into your rhythm as you dance through life, as you dance through eternity. When we hurry, it is as if we are dancing out of step to the music. We become out of sync. Our body strains and stresses. We stop enjoying life. We are too busy hurrying, racing blindly to somewhere, anywhere. We hurry so fast that when we get there, we don’t take the time to enjoy it. We simply hurry onto the next moment. Step in time to the music - the rhythm of your soul. The rhythm will lead you where you want to go. IT will take you through all the tasks that need doing. It will take you down the road of spiritual growth, healing, fulfillment, and joy. And you’ll have more fun going there because you weren’t in a hurry.”
Do you find your life picking up speed? Are you in a hurry? If so, where are you going? Let’s pause, reflect and get grounded to start our month.
